South Farm Winter Wedding

A wedding at South Farm feels a little like you have transported your guests to a French farmhouse.  The climbing roses across the warm front of the farmhouse sit at the heart of 20 acres of idyllic gardens.  This wedding may look like it was shot during the summer months, but Carla and Mark were married early in December.   December!  So few winter weddings have kind enough weather to shoot family groups outside, and there are usually snatched opportunities to capture those intimate couple shots that long summer days offer.

Carla and Mark’s folks were absolutely game to make the most of the warm day and we laughed our way through the not-so-formal group portraits before heading out for a walk – just the two of them – for some alone time in the gardens which were still abundant with flowers and foliage.

Rare Breeds Small Holding

Taking some inspiration from the opportunity presented by the on-site timber barns and rare breeds farmhouse – we took a (very) brief few minutes in with the pigs.  (It seems that pigs don’t see glittery shoes too often – and Carla found her toes being snuffled by the piggy residents).

Winter Wedding Styling

This post would not be complete with a huge mention of the styling.  This was not ordinary.  Carla and Mark are avid cyclists – and that was the challenge set for florist The Basement Florist – to incorporate a stunning suspended range of scrap wheels salvaged by Mark in the lead up to the wedding.   The magnificent wheel art was adorned with winter floristry in the Tudor Barn.   A Christmas tree put up by Carla in the The Old Dairy was decorated by family and friends who were invited to bring a bauble to personalise the tree, and give Carla and Mark a reminder of their day each year that they pull the decorations out from the loft.

Here are some of the key details if you love the features of Carla and Mark’s South Farm wedding.
