Chippenham Park Wedding Photography | Katie & Gary
“Roots and wings”…. a phrase I heard for the first time at Katie & Gary’s Chippenham Park wedding in September. Not a dry eye on the outdoor terrace as first Katie’s Dad then her new husband, Gary delivered their tributes to their beautiful daughter / wife. Katie’s Dad made reference to his determination to ensure that their daughter had the solid foundations of a happy family life upon which she could go on to achieve every happiness with the man of her dreams. Katie’s gentle beauty struck me, as throughout the day she met the many compliments with a bashful smile.
With the summer drawing to a close, I had been looking forward to shooting at this magnificent venue. Secluded and peaceful, Chippenham’s landscape is simply stunning. Modestly calling itself an English Country House and Garden, the venue really is so very much more. The biggest challenge when shooting at a venue that has so many picture perfect backdrops, is carefully choosing where to take your bride and groom to get the most from the landscape.
Outdoor wedding venue Cambridgeshire
Katie & Gary had everything crossed that the weather would be kind enough for them to make the most of Chippenham’s outdoor wedding gazebo. Approached via a wide tree-lined green avenue, guests get to see the floral gazebo and pier set against the emerald green of the lake, and backdrop of the park’s ancient Lime trees. The park is so well established, having been created in the 1600s, which gives you a sense of being in another era where the pace of life was just that bit slower. So few venues offer such magnificent indoor or outdoor options that you wouldn’t mind which way it went. Chippenham really does have it all. Luck favoured the fair weather wish, and we got to shoot lakeside in what came to be one of the warmest days of the autumn.
Wedding Magician – Jamie Segrave
I first met Jamie Segrave at a wedding in 2015. He was a best man at Cambridge Wedding that I photographed. And then he broke out his incredible magic tricks on the guests in the wedding party. He had people in fits of laughter scratching their heads at tricks he performed on small personal items they had on them. During Katie and Gary’s drink’s reception on the lawn at Chippenham Park, there was a buzz amongst a small group of friends, who were whispering about a magician that was about to arrive, without the couple’s knowledge. Jamie arrived in pretty low-key way, but worked his way around the small groups, until there was such interest in the cries of “no-way!” that he soon had big groups crowded around him. A completely charismatic magician, and wonderful addition to an outdoor reception.
